Say & Do Whatever I Please

Tactile

"Joy in the body. Joy in objects made of wood, fibre, clay, from materials akin to ours, dear and lovely. The world's consanguinity."

Summer 2010, or Splendor in the Grass

While this CD is not thier best (Sympathique, Hang on Little Tomato, Splendor in the Grass), I can remember my absolute glee over this image, wondering what they sounded like, deciding that no matter what they sounded like, it must be awesome. A few years later, Pink Martini and Blossom Dearie the soundtrack to: Oxford shirtsleeves rolled up, cropped black pants and ballet flats through the park on summer mornings. Sunglasses and alternatives to swearing, dodging the sprinkler system. Oh you, oh swoon, I'll hand out the champange while you play the standards. One glass of water and one cup of tea while I type, tapping my feet and shimmying in my seat.

"You look like the 1950s!" Exclaims my coworker, "I bet you have a basket on your bicycle!" Yes, I do.
